This week, the NewDEAL welcomed the Spring 2019 class of NewDEAL Leaders to the network. The class of 20 was selected from a large pool of nominations for their unwavering commitment to expanding opportunity, as they work to move their communities forward in the new economy and reject the idea that policymakers can or should want to turn the clock back to a prior era. See the whole class here, read our press release for details, and check out news reports recognizing some of the members of the new class.
This week, the NewDEAL released the latest episode of our podcast, An Honorable Profession! Listen to the episode to learn how Laura was led to a career in public service, why she left positions in the U.S. Senate and White House to return home and serve Santa Barbara, and what it's like to be both a board member steering local education as well as being a mom in the world of elected politics.
NewDEAL Leader Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin unveiled the Birmingham Inclusive Growth (BIG) Partnership this week, which will identify potential opportunity zone projects and ensure opportunity zones improve residents' quality of life and produce returns for investors.
