Designing Portable Benefits

The Aspen Institute Future of Work Initiative released a new guide for policymakers to develop portable benefits policies, an important part of updating benefits to match Americans' experiences in the new economy by providing better stability and security for workers. Aspen's initiative participated in the NewDEAL Forum Future of Work Policy Group, which also talked about portable benefits in its policy recommendations released in November. Check out Aspen's new brief and resource guide to learn why portable benefits are important and how policymakers can craft and implement these programs.

Diversity in City Procurement

NewDEAL Leader Councilmember Derek Green's city of Philadelphia was recently announced as the latest member of the City Accelerator, a program in partnership with Living Cities and Citi Foundation to promote the spread of promising innovative policies that will have a significant impact on residents' lives. Philadelphia's City Accelerator project will build on work Councilmember Green started earlier this year to enhance diversity in city procurement and use city purchasing power to build up businesses owned by people of color. Learn more about the plans to promote women and minority-owned companies.
