Creating Affordable Housing Opportunities

In New Jersey, sky-high property taxes make it unaffordable for youth to start lives, families to thrive, and seniors to retire on fixed incomes.

Senator Gopal is addressing high property taxes by pushing for legislation that incentivizes small municipalities to participate in consolidation and shared services. He is paving a path forward for municipal governments to collaborate with the state in consolidating local government structures so that they better serve communities at lower costs. Essential components to Gopal’s approach are including local residents in decision making processes, and protecting individual municipality representation, current collectively bargained contracts, and future town employees, authorities, and agencies.
